Japan has been maintaining a strong diplomatic missions network with countries around the world since ancient times. Japan is one of the countries that has been sending its ambassadors to overseas nations since as early as 607 A.D.

The Japanese diplomatic missions represent Japan internationally. They also help in negotiations with the Governments of foreign nations and help promote Japanese culture overseas.
