Emergency Travel Document (ETD)

Pakistan issues an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) to its citizens who have lost their passports, have expired passports, or are unable to obtain a regular passport in a timely manner. The ETD allows the individual to return to Pakistan and is generally valid for a limited period.

A machine-readable passport is a travel document with the data on the identity page encoded in optical character recognition format. Pakistani citizens residing abroad may apply for MRP at a Pakistani Embassy or Consulate. Applicants are required to apply in person for MRP.
