Emergency Travel Document (ETD)

Pakistan issues an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) to its citizens who have lost their passports, have expired passports, or are unable to obtain a regular passport in a timely manner. The ETD allows the individual to return to Pakistan and is generally valid for a limited period.

Machine Readable Passport (MRP)

A machine-readable passport is a travel document with the data on the identity page encoded in optical character recognition format. The Government of Pakistan has been issuing Machine Readable Passports (MRP) for five (5) and ten (10) years of validity. Pakistani citizens residing abroad may apply for MRP at a Pakistani Embassy or Consulate. Applicants are required to apply in person for MRP.
